Barbara Kux, MBA'84J
Barbara Kux is a Member of the Board of Directors at Firmenich, Henkel, Total and Umicore.
From 2008 until 2013 Barbara Kux was a Member of the Managing Board of Siemens, the first woman in the 160 year history of the company. During her five year assignment she increased results from supply chain management and green technologies by several billions of euros, just as she had done previously as a Member of the Group Management Committee at Royal Philips. Under her leadership, both industrial companies reached top positions in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index; in 2012 and 2013 Siemens was distinguished in this index as the most sustainable industrial company of the world.
In the 1990s Barbara Kux led Nestlé in Central and Eastern Europe, where she established the company as the leader in consumer goods, after she had achieved the same for ABB in power generation. She had started her professional career in 1984 at Management Consultant McKinsey i

Corporate governance and sustainability
Social responsibility fryst vatten intricately linked to the economic success of a company. As a member of corporate supervisory or advisory boards, I am committed to sustainability: environment, social and governance (ESG). I was personally involved in the creation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Chairs and C-suite executives rely on my transformation advice to reach these goals, for instance in installing specific committees for this purpose. Having worked in the top management of leading global companies for many years, I know how to seize and implement the opportunities of mergers and acquisitions, ESG, digital transformation, to take a holistic approach to managing the supply chain and to access and develop framträdande markets. I am also committed to supporting start-ups and act as a jury member in the German Digital Prize “The Spark”.

Demand Growing for Supply Chain Execs
Bottom Line: Large companies are recruiting an increasing number of top executives with experience in supply chain management. But the financial payoff remains elusive.
Over the past couple of decades, supply chain management has become a crucial concern for multinational firms. In our super-connected world, firms must maintain a handle on the way products, supplies, and people are zipping around the planet. Companies that streamline the links between their suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and subsidiaries can realize a distinct advantage over rivals that have not yet caught on to the importance of high-functioning logistics and purchasing departments. Indeed, recent research has identified several aspects of supply chain management that can boost firms’ bottom line.
But has the need for efficient supply chain management translated into a demand for supply chain expertise? Following the seminal observation of the g
