Muhammad Iqbal, also referred to as Allama Iqbal, was a well-known Muslim author, philosopher, and politician from South Asia. Many consider his Urdu poetry to be among the best of the 20th century. Iqbal, who was born in 1877 in Sialkot, Punjab, British India (now in Pakistan), finished his education there before moving to Lahore to further his studies. He eventually earned a Ph.D. in philosophy in Germany. His writings include "Bang-e-Dara," "Tarana-e-Milli," and "The Secrets of the Self," among others. He is well known for them.
Iqbal was a key figure in the movement to revive Islamic civilization politically and spiritually, especially in South Asia. He was chosen to serve on the Punjab Legislative Council in 1927, and his vision and ideas had a tremendous impact on the political scene.
