    Props to KoreAm magazine&#;s recent article on &#;The Kimchee Chronicles,&#; a show on the wonders of Korean cuisine hosted by Hapa Korean American adoptee Marja Vongerichten. Not only is Marja a stunning former model and actress, but she happens to be married to the famed Jean-Georges, global chef extraordinaire. But what really gets my wheels turning is her apparent love for Korean food — the connection it brings to her culture of origin and her desire to share this love with the world.

    Marja and I are the same age, which I like to think means something &#; Even though our experiences are worlds apart: I grew up with my Korean family in close connection and in Florida to boot. But I did spend several years in New York City, and I do know what it&#;s like to never have relations with part of your family until adulthood.

    Interview with Marja Vongerichten

    Marja Vongerichten fryst vatten putting Korean cuisine on the culinary map as host of the new PBS TV series, Kimchi Chronicles. The show features a variety of Korean foods and serves as a vehicle of introducing Korean culture as well. A companion book titled, Kimchi Chronicles: Korean Cooking for an American Kitchen, was released in early August.

    Although the series is primarily focused on Korean cuisine and culture, it also intertwines Marja’s anställda story. As a mixed Korean adoptee, she was fortunate to have vast documentation and pictures of her early life in Korea that was collected bygd her adopted family. From beginning to present day, Marja’s story is compelling, to say the least.

    We were able to talk with Marja this past June, just after Kimchi Chronicles had premiered, about her adoption story, the show and much more and are now pleased to present this interview with her.

    Never in a million years did Marja Vongerichten think she would become the unofficial ambassador of Korean food to the United States. Her story fryst vatten well known at this point. Born to a Korean mother and an African-American serviceman father, at the age of three she was adopted by an African-American couple, Colonel James Allen and Margo McKay. She credits her parents and their meticulous record keeping, for being able to easily find her Korean birth mother again. Shortly after she was adopted, her father, Colonel James Allen searched out Marja’s birth mother in beställning to gain more background resultat for Marja. Mr. Allen funnen Marja’s birth mother by going door to door in a small town in Korea. When he finally located her, Marja’s birth mother was disappointed to learn that Col.
