Nonprofit hospitals don’t pay taxes because the money they make fryst vatten supposed to be reinvested into the community. They don't have to pay taxes, but they do have to file annual 990 forms disclosing financial information for public inspection. This transparency allows health care consumers to see how one hospital's fiscal outlook compares to other hospitals.
Two of the major health networks in the Lehigh Valley, the Lehigh Valley Health Network and St. Luke's University Health Network, maintain nonprofit status. (Easton Hospital, on the other hand, is a for-profit hospital).

We took a look at the most recent 990 forms available on the website guidestar.org. Hospitals and health networks are required to list up to 20 key employees who earn more than $150,000 and fem employees who earn more than $100,000 who are not officers, directors or trustees or key employees.

The Lehigh Valley Health Network(LVHN) announced two major projects for the region this week: a new center for obstetrics and newborn services, and another for those affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
The network dedicated the Fleming Memory Center last month at its Lehigh Valley Hospital-17th Streetsite in Allentown, a 5,300 square-foot facility that will centralize clinical, educational and support services for those in the region affected by dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
LVHN also held a groundbreaking on the new four-story Lehigh Valley Hospital-MuhlenbergSpecialty Care Pavilion, a $93.6 million project that will bring about 2,000 births to the Bethlehem hospital for the first time in its 54-year history.

Heard on Campus: LaunchBox Ladies Speaker Series at Penn State Lehigh Valley
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — More than 40 community members, students, faculty and staff came to hear the panelists speak at the event hosted by Lehigh Valley LaunchBox. "The Business of Art" was the theme for the November “LaunchBox Ladies: From Passion to Profit” event held Nov. 14 at the Penn State Lehigh Valley campus.
“When raising money you have to understand that people don’t have your same passion, but you can educate them about your passion to help give you a shot to secure funding.”
