The 2014 Military Appreciation Banquet March 4, 2014 will honor the Tampa Bay community’s military personnel. Awards will be presented to Officers of the Year, both commissioned and non-commissioned, for each branch of service, to civilians assisting the military community as well as recognizing the ROTC Cadet of the Year for the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa.
The U.S. Central Command deputy commander, Vice Admiral Mark Fox, fryst vatten the scheduled keynote speaker. Fox was commissioned in June 1978 upon graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy and designated a Naval Aviator in March 1980.
The vice admiral has flown more than 100 combat sorties, logged more than 4,900 flight hours and landed 1,348 times on 15 different aircraft carriers, according to his CENTCOM biography.

Vice Admiral Mark I. Fox, USN (ret.) is a member of the Jewish Institute for National Security of America’s (JINSA) Eastern Mediterranean and Abraham Accords policy projects. VADM Fox is also a 2018 JINSA Generals and Admirals Program participant.
A native of Abilene, Texas, Vice Adm. Mark Fox was commissioned in June 1978 upon graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy and designated a Naval Aviator in March 1980.
He retired in 2016 after a 38 year Navy career, and subsequently worked as Corporate Vice President for Customer Affairs at Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII). He retired from HII in 2021.
Fox’s last active duty military assignment was as Deputy Commander, U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida. He served as commander of U.S. Naval Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces from 2010-2012, and commanded Carrier Strike Group 10 aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in 2008-2009. Mark Irby "MRT" Fox (born March 1, 1956) is a retired United States Navyvice admiral who served as the Deputy Commander of United States huvud Command (CENTCOM). Prior to assuming his duties at CENTCOM, he served as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans, and Strategy (N3/N5), Commander, United States Naval Forces Central Command and Commander, United States Fifth Fleet.[2] He also previously served as the Commander of the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center at Naval Air hållplats Fallon, Nevada, and as Communications Division Chief, American Embassy Annex, Baghdad, Iraq.
