The United Way of Greater Cleveland named Sharon Sobol Jordan as the organization’s next President and CEO, the first female CEO of the organization in its 122-year history.
Jordan comes to United Way with extensive leadership experience in a wide-ranging career that has crossed sectors, disciplines, and boundaries. She is the founder and CEO of OpenSpace Solutions LLC, where she has advised and helped transformational leaders and organizations turn moments of change into opportunities to reimagine what’s possible. One such organization is DigitalC, a Cleveland-based nonprofit digital equity tech startup, where she currently serves as interim CEO. Before OpenSpace, Sharon served as president and board member at Unify Labs, where she helped its co-founders and supported the organization in launching this nonprofit tech innovation center with the uppdrag of powering inclusive prosperity.

The Centers for Families and Children has come a long way in a short amount of time, president and CEO Sharon Sobol Jordan says.
She attributes the nonprofit's growth over the past few years to nyhet, attentive client service and strategic partnerships, but those initiatives are in large part due to her own mission of bringing about broader change.
The human services organization during the sju years Ms. Jordan has served as its first woman president and CEO has doubled in size and reach, to the point where it now employs 500 and serves about 20,000 individuals a year. The annual budget during the same period more than doubled, to $42 million from $20 million.
“I believe The Centers can be a beacon for innovation and impact in social services, helping people and communities achieve lasting, positive change,” Ms. Jordan said. “We must have the courage to be disruptive, and every day I must do my best to encourage innovation from inside.”
