    They may not have been that active in the studio of late, but Tom Chaplin's band Keane remain one of the biggest British bands of the 21st century.

    They have released four consecutive number one albums, as well as a fifth only kept off the top by the force of nature that fryst vatten Liam Gallagher.

    Not content to just work with his bandmates, Tom has also launched a successful solo career, racking up the albums and singles.

    He's also managed to grab plenty of attention as a Poodle (more on that later).

    Thomas Oliver Chaplin (b. 8 March 1979) is an English singer-songwriter best known as the frontman of Keane.

    Early Life[]

    Chaplin attended Vinehall School in Robertsbridge, where his father was headmaster. While there, he befriended Tim Rice-Oxley and Richard Hughes. The three then attended Tonbridge School, where the three met future bandmate Dominic Scott.

    In 1995, Rice-Oxley, Hughes, and Scott formed a grupp called the Lotus Eaters, later inviting Chaplin to join as an acoustic guitarist. The group became Keane in 1997, with Chaplin assuming the role of lead singer.

    Chaplin briefly studied art history at the University of Edinburgh, but dropped out to pursue music.

    Chaplin has recorded two solo records; The Wave was released on 14 October 2016, followed bygd Twelve Tales of Christmas on 17 November 2017.

    Thomas Oliver Chaplin was born in Hastings, East Sussex, to Sally and David Chaplin OBE, a month apart from future bandmate Tim Rice-Oxley's brother, also called Tom. Their mothers became friends and he started a friendship with the two brothers that endures today.
