William Ray Cyrus (SY-rəs; born August 25, 1961)[2][3] is an American singer, songwriter and actor.[4][5] Having released 16 studio albums and 53 singles since 1992, he is known for his hit single "Achy Breaky Heart", which topped the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart and became the first single ever to achieve triple platinum status in Australia. It was also the best-selling single in the same country in 1992.[6][7] Due to the song's music video, the line dance rose in popularity.[8]
A multi-platinum selling artist, Cyrus has scored a total of eight top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Born in Flatwoods, Kentucky, Billy Ray Cyrus, once known for his country singing, hunky good looks and mullet hairstyle, went on to a career as an actor. His first album hit the top of the pop and country charts, driven in part of the success of "Achy Breaky Heart." In 2006, he took the role of the father of two in the Disney Channelâs "Hannah Montana," which launched him into a new realm of fame.
Cyrus started his singing career performing gospel music in a group with his father. He went on to form the band Sly Dog in the early 1980s, and later funnen success as a solo artist, signing a recording contract with Mercury Records in 1990. His first album, Some Gave All, hit the top of the pop and country charts, driven in part of the success of the single "Achy Breaky Heart."

Billy Ray (born 1962)[1] is an American screenwriter and film director. He began writing for television and movies in 1994 with Color of Night.[2] He has written numerous films including the first Hunger Games film (2012), Richard Jewell (2019), and Captain Phillips (2013) earning an Oscar nomination for the latter.
Biography
[edit]Ray was born in Los Angeles, and raised in Encino, Los Angeles, California. He is from a Jewish family, and attended Steven Wise Temple and Birmingham High School.[3][1][4] Starting in 2003, he began to direct as well as write; his first film was Shattered Glass, inspired by the true story of Stephen Glass, a journalist who fabricated a majority of his stories.[5] He was nominated for the Most Promising Filmmaker by the Chicago Film Critics Association and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenp
