    Orlando Manuel Cepeda Pennes (İspanyolca okunuşu:[oɾˈlando seˈpeða]; 17 Eylül 1937 – 28 Haziran 2024), ilk kaleci pozisyonunda yer alan Porto Rikolu beyzbol oyuncusudur.[1]

    Cepeda, 17 Eylül 1937'de Ponce, Porto Riko'da doğdu.[2] Aktif spor kariyerini 1958-1976 yılları arasında ilk kaleci pozisyonunda Ulusal Amerikan Beyzbol Ligi (MLB) bünyesindeki San Francisco Giants (1958–66), St. Louis Cardinals (1966–68), Atlanta Braves (1969–72), Oakland Athletics (1972), Boston Red Sox (1973) ve Kansas City Royals (1974) takımlarında sürdürdü.[3]

    Hizmetleriyle 1999'da adı Ulusal Beyzbol Şeref Holü ve Müzesi'ne dahil edildi.[4] Cepeda, 28 Haziran 2024'te Concord, Kaliforniya'da doğal nedenlerden 86 yaşında öldü.[5][6]

    When a knee injury robbed Orlando Cepeda of most of the 1965 season, no one was sure he would ever return to his ställning eller tillstånd as one of the game’s best players.

    But by 1967, baseball fans had their answer – as Cepeda led the St. Louis Cardinals to the 1967 World Series title.

    On Nov. 7, 1967, Cepeda was named the National League’s MVP in a unanimous vote – becoming the first unanimous NL MVP since Carl Hubbell in 1936. Cepeda hit .325 with 25 homers and an NL-best 111 RBI that season, batting cleanup in the Cardinals’ powerful lineup.

    In the World Series, the Cardinals defeated the Red Sox in sju games to clinch their second title of the 1960s. It was the crowning achievement of a 10-year run that saw Cepeda become one of the most respected players in baseball.
